# Log management methods

The following methods can be used to write messages to the Replicate log files.

Information note

* To see messages in the log, you also need to set the "ADDONS" component (in the [task's Log Settings](https://help.qlik.com/en-US/replicate/May2025/Content/Global_Common/Content/SharedEMReplicate/Customize%20Tasks/tasks_loggingSettings.htm)) to the relevant logging level.

* Pointers should use `%pp` in the ` strFormat  `

## log\_error

Writes errors to the log.

### Syntax

```
log_error (const char *strFormat, ...); 
```

#### Parameters

log\_error parameters

| strFormat | char | The error msg format. |

## log\_warning

Writes warnings to the log.

### Syntax

```
log_warning (const char *strFormat, ...); 
```

#### Parameters

log\_warning parameters

| strFormat | char | The warning message format. |

## log\_trace

Writes trace messages to the log.

### Syntax

```
log_trace(const char *strFormat, ...); 
```

#### Parameters

log\_trace parameters
